Harmony Day 2011

Hi Auburn North,

Harmony Day is  celebrated around Australia on the 21st March every year. At Auburn North we celebrated our cultural diversity with the theme 'Everyone Belongs'.
Congratulations to the students and parents who were recognised this year as award winners.

I particularly enjoyed listening to Hassan's story as he reflected on his past and shared his thoughts about the future for himself and his family.
He was a fantastic representative of many students at our school who have a story to tell.

What did you enjoy about the assembly?
What does Harmony Day mean to you?

Billy-chomping on a few 'Aussie Chomps' with 6/5L
Hey Kids,

It's Billy Bookbrain here. This week I've been checking out some Stage 3 classes while I take a break between my surfing trips. You guys are crazy readers!
Mrs Clift told me that the Library was cleaned out of all the 'Lightning Strikes' books after my last visit. COOL!    Check out the 'Aussie Chomps' series for some more wild stories.
Lots of the titles are on the Premier's Reading Challenge. Check out 'Library Enquiry' on the  DET portal under the 'series' tab to see what is available.
Keep watching. You never know when I'll turn up again.

See ya,

Billy Bookbrain

Hi Auburn North,

Well done on supporting a great cause and wearing your red and black clothes to raise money for the people of Christchurch and Japan.

We raised a grand total of...$675.85!!

As you can see from the photos, you all looked spectacular in red and black.
It was wonderful to see our Auburn North Public School values of kindness, friendship, respect, fairness and responsibility on display for all to see.

You can follow the GRAND total of money raised by clicking here.

Great job everyone.

Level 2

Oh no! Your teachers have lost their knowledge of State Parliament and need it back.
You have a mission to complete before the end of today’s lesson!
You must navigate through the website 'Inside NSW Parliament' to help you develop definitions for the following words –

1.       Legislative Assembly
2.       Legislative Council
3.       National Parliament

(Make sure it’s in your own words or you will be punished for the crime of plagiarism).

You must follow these steps in order to complete this mission successfully:

1.        Open a word document to type your definitions in

2.        Check your spelling (ask the Special Agents around
                you for help if necessary)

3.        Copy and paste your response onto the Blog.

If you have time to spare, complete the next mission –

What do you think would happen if Australia did not have a State Parliament?

Thank you for your time Special Agents! Your hard-work and efforts will be rewarded by sharing your knowledge and skills with other Special Agents and teachers.
