K-2 Book Week Character Parade

27/8/2010

Hi Auburn North,

Wednesday morning's assembly was a little bit different to normal. All sorts of weird and wonderful book characters were there to greet the students.
Can you see your teacher?
Can you guess the story book they are from?

It you are really clever, you may even know the author!
After morning assembly a mystery reader came to the classes to read their favourite story.
Who came to your class? What did they read?
After all that excitement we finished our morning with a Kindy character parade in the hall. Red Riding Hood asked us who we were dressed as.
We had lots of fun dancing to the music.
Thank you Mrs Saleh for organising the parade.
Stage 1 and Stage 3 enjoyed buddy reading. Some classes enjoyed reading their stories outside in the shade.
Many thanks to the parents who attended and for preparing such fabulous costumes for our students.
I can't wait until next year!

Hello Auburn North,

I am so proud of everyone who attended the afternoon tea with our very special visitors.
Auburn North, you were SPECTACULAR as always. The authors told me you were a dream audience and they loved their visit to our fabulous school. They really enjoyed  speaking with you and answering your fantastic questions.

If you missed the event, I have posted some footage of the afternoon below for you to look at.

What were your highlights?
What will you remember?

Thank you to parents who attended with their children and congratulations to our lucky door prize winners. How exciting was that!

Enjoy.
Mrs Clift

The final thanks goes to Deb, Oliver, Susanne, Jeni, Chris and the CBC for so generously sharing their talents, time, ideas, inspiration and enthuasiam for reading.

If you would like to personally thank Deb, Jeni, Chris, Susanne or Oliver you can post a message on their blogs by clicking on the links.

And remember....
Keep being amazing kids!

Are you a website evaluation billionaire?

Hi Auburn North,

How did you go? Are you a billionaire?
If not, how much did you win? Did you use all your lifelines?

If you need more practise, go to the Stage 3 tab and look under the heading 'Website Evaluation'.

I had a great morning with 54M and 5L. We learnt how to 'predict'with Ms Ireland; how writers use personification to help us visualise when we read;  and of course, how to THINK about what we read on the internet with Mrs McShane (formally known as Miss Grainger!)

Mrs Clift

P.S. How are you enjoing your new cybertan?

Video Conferencing...5/4 M Style!

Hello Auburn North!!

What do you get when you combine spinning DJs, crazy news presenters, juicy Hollywood gossip and a dancer who  is always changing costumes?

5/4M's very own spectacular version of 'Auburn North Primary News', that's what you get!!
The class had loads of fun preparing their individual news segments, rehearsing and of course performing their news presentation to 5B and 5L. They even performed for 6C and 6L!
What was the highlight of their performance?
Besides receiving lots of positive comments from the audience, the highlight of the performance was most definitely the crazy antics of the news presenters, James Bruce and Melinda Gordon, and one of a kind dance moves displayed by the crazy dancer!
Here are some photos of their performance... Enjoy.

What was your favourite moment?

Mrs McShane

Guess who came to visit ANPS at the weekend?

Hi Auburn North,

Look who came to our Library over the weekend. Jacqueline Harvey, author of the really quite lovely adventures of Alice-Miranda-Highton-Smith-Kennington-Jones!

Jacqueline was here to judge the Stories on Screen competition which is run through the Children's Book Council.

Her first picture book, The Sound of the Sea, was an honour book in the 2006 CBCA awards. We have copies of this book in our Library but you will need a box of tissues when you read it as it is very moving and sad.

Bye for now...and keep those notes and questions coming.
