The NSW state library consists of two buildings.

Hyde Park barracks was a Governor Macquarie project built by Francis Greenway to house some of Sydney’s convict population. It is now a museum.

Hyde Park Barracks is located in Macquarie Street, Sydney, NSW.

We think it is called Hyde Park Barracks because barracks means a large plain building in which many people are lodged.
