Hi Auburn North,

Wow! So many of you have returned your permission note for the free author visit and all sound very excited. I am too.

After each of the authors speak, there is question time.
If you have a question you would like to ask the authors, please send it into the blog. I'll read them and nominate students to ask their questions on the day.

So what are you wondering?? If you have any questions for me about the afternoon you can ask here too.

Hi Gulalay and Moustafa,

What great questions.
I wonder if the authors have other careers as well?

I know, for example, that Oliver teaches at high school and does stand up comedy!

I wonder where the ideas for the stories come from?

I wonder if characters are based on real people?

Keep those questions coming in!

Hi Gulalay and others who are reading this,

Have you checked the authors' websites to see if they illustrate their own books?

Have a look and see who does both.

Mrs Clift

P.S I have linked their websites to their photos on the blog post and under the Book Week tab.

Hi Zeibab,

If you come to the author visit you can ask the authors yourself!

I wonder who inspired them to write great stories. Perhaps they had a teacher or parent that encouraged them when they were younger?

I like your question about assistance. Often, on the imprint page, an author will dedicate or thank people who have helped them or inspired them to write.

See if you can find the dedication on the book you are reading now.
If you need help, come and ask.

Well done!!

Hi Auburn North,

'I want to buy a book. How much does it cost?'

I have been asked this question soooooooooo many times today.

News Flash...

Have a look on the community notice board at the bottom of the Library steps. I have put the price list there.

It would be a good idea to listen to what they have to say and then make up your mind.

The price range is between $12-$20.

You do not have to buy a book to come. If you would like to buy a book and have it signed by the author then you can.

Hi Mrs clift,
I was just wondering if these authors write because they enjoy it or do they write to entertain us children?
How long does it take to produce a book?
After how long do they get paid?
What encourages them to write and who encourages them? And do they have fun wrting?

Hi, Mrs Clift

I was reading a book a while ago and
when I opened the book it was adressed
to someone.
I wonder why the authors adress their books to someone, does that person give them ideas or does that person encourage them to write?

Hi Gulalay,

The author visit is next Monday (16th)
The Book Week tab is on the left hand side under 'links for kids'.
You can buy a copy of 'I am Jack' and have it signed by Susanne Gervay after the talks. Have a look on the community notice board( at the bottom of the Library steps) for the price list.

Dear Mrs Clift,

I wonder why Jeni Mawter said that "If you attach a father spider, a mother spider and a baby spider together and the next day you'll see that there is only the father spider left?"

Please send the answer for this long question!
