Hi Auburn North,

Keep your eyes out for books in the Library which have the CBC book week logo on the front cover. These books have been shortlisted for the Book of the Year Award.
This year the theme for Book Week is ... 'Read Across the Universe'.

You might remember Bob Graham's winning picture book from last year titled 'A Bus called Heaven'.  This year he has designed the logo for bookweek 2013.

Book week will be celebrated from the 18th-24th August. We will be reading and celebrating the shortlist during term 3 and have great learning activities planned.

Do you remember our character parades and art displays from previous years?

Hi Auburn North,
National Simultaneous Story time was a fantastic day of reading, creating, learning and friendship.
Classes buddied together to read 'The Wrong Book' and had fun creating pictures, puppets, pirate hats and more.
It was wonderful to see families join in on the fun.
Thanks to ALIA, NSS and Nick Bland for a fabulous book and event.

Harmony Day @ Auburn North

Dear Auburn North,

On the 21st March, Auburn North PS celebrated the cultural diversity that makes our school so special.
This year we also celebrated receiving the Minister's Award for social harmony. The award is called the Cohesive Schools Community Award.
Special guests attended a very special assembly where the
choir  sang a range of songs including 'Lean on Me' and the whole school came together  to sing 'I Am Australian'.

The day continued with parents sharing a community morning tea where food from around the world was shared and conversation flowed in many languages. The special guests had an opportunity to visit Harmony House and see a parent group in action.

SBS radio interviewed some of the parents, students and staff at Auburn North about what Harmony Day means to them. To listen to this broadcast click below:

Hi boys and girls,

Auburn Library is running a School Holiday activity program which includes jewellery workshops, sushi-making and ‘wacky’ science. Bookings open on Monday at 1pm and can be made at the library. Spaces are limited so book early to avoid disappointment.
There is also an author talk  with  Nathan Luff, perfect for students aged 9-12 who enjoy humorous authors such as  Jeff Kinney, Morris Gleitzman and Paul Jennings.
Nathan has written two  hilarious junior novels,
Bad Grammar
and Chicken Stu, the latter  of which is on the Premier’s
Reading Challenge for Years 5-6.

Nathan Luff will be at Auburn Library on Wednesday 10th April @ 4.00pm.
Parents and teachers are welcome.

Book at the Library or on 9735 1250.
