Hi Auburn North,
If you missed the Stage 3 Science Expo then take a look at the photos that showcase the amazing talents of our students. Years 5 and 6 very proudly showed their buddy classes their open -ended science projects they had been working on in Term 2. Students worked in groups to complete their projects and have done an amazing job at creating replicas of the Harbour Bridge and Opera House. As you can see from the photos, the attention to detail is fantastic. Congratulations students and teachers on a fabulous term of learning. Hi Auburn North,
What fun we had this year for NSS. We celebrated the day by having a Teddy Bear's Picnic and reading with our buddy classes. National Simultaneous Storytime aims to promote the value of reading and literacy using quality Australian literature. This year's picture book is 'The Very Cranky Bear', by Nick Bland. It has a wonderful message about friendship, kindness and being fair. A bit like ANPS school values! Hi Auburn North, Many thanks to Mrs Saleh and the literacy team for hosting the Book Giving Ceremony for Term 2. Laura, the National Schools' Coordinator from Books in Homes, a special guest author, Lynda Calder, and a representative from UWS attended the action packed assembly. Students read poetry, received their book bags, received awards for completing the comprehension competition on the front of the brochure and 2M and the NAP students sang a FANTASTIC song inspired from the students of Ocoee Middle School in the US. You did such a great job that Laura asked if Auburn North would like to feature on the next BIH catalogue which will be out in Term 4! Exciting stuff. Well done everyone. Mrs Clift Pick up that book!
And turn the page! You'll never know Just what you'll find Information or fantasy Drama and Art All make you...SMART! Many thanks to Jannawi for sharing their beautiful culture through stoytelling and dance today.
Peta and Rayma presented a spellbinding programme of traditional and contemporary dance, story, culture and artefacts. Hi Auburn North, Thank you Miss Li for encouraging students to enter the competition for Leigh Hobbs to visit our school. Over 100 stage 2 students had the opportunity to learn to draw Leigh's famous characters such as Mr Chicken, Horrible Harriet and Old Tom. Have a look at the photos of our very talented artists in action. You can read more about Leigh Hobbs by visiting the school website. Check it out. Hi Auburn North,
Operation Art is a program which encourages young people to create artworks for children at The Children's Hospital at Westmead. Mrs Spicer and her CAPA team have been very busy displaying the wonderful artworks Auburn North students and their teachers created to support this wonderful initiative. Congratulations everyone on producing such fantastic works of art. Congratulations to Kieran from 5M for his winning entry in the Jacob Groth competition.
Kieran was awarded a certificate, letter of congratulations and a prize pack at the morning assembly. Remember to read the front cover of your 'Books In Homes' catalogue and enter the competition for your chance to win great prizes. Kieran's name is also starring on the 'Books In Homes Website'. Check it out. http://www.booksinhomesaustralia.com.au/pages.php?page_id=0040&menu_id=04 Hi Auburn North,
Last weekend, 36 of our students attended a workshop at Auburn Town Hall for the 2012 Heritage in Song project - Mirror. You will recognise many of our students and teachers from Auburn and Auburn West! Mirror, written by Jeannie Baker, is a wordless picture book which follows the lives of two children in Australia and Morocco. Although the settings are different, the children share many similarities and, despite the differences, are a mirror of each other. This innovative and collaborative project involves students from Auburn, Auburn West, Auburn North and Hampton Park join with the Sydney Children's Choir and are immersed in music, song, dance and drama. The students are working towards the world premiere in September. It is truly inspirational. Hi Auburn North,
Have a look at the photos of today's special book giving assembly. Many thanks to Nicole, a representative from our Sponsor (UWS), and the fabulously talented children's author, Suzanne Gervay, for presenting awards and book bags to the Library monitors and competition winners. I really enjoyed listening to the students' speeches about their favourite books, what reading means to them and for thanking Books In Homes for the amazing free books. You are all very lucky students to receive this very generous gift. Now turn off your computer and go and read them! ( I hope that made you smile). Enjoy. |
