Dear Auburn North,

On the 21st March, Auburn North PS celebrated the cultural diversity that makes our school so special.
This year we also celebrated receiving the Minister's Award for social harmony. The award is called the Cohesive Schools Community Award.
Special guests attended a very special assembly where the
choir  sang a range of songs including 'Lean on Me' and the whole school came together  to sing 'I Am Australian'.

The day continued with parents sharing a community morning tea where food from around the world was shared and conversation flowed in many languages. The special guests had an opportunity to visit Harmony House and see a parent group in action.

SBS radio interviewed some of the parents, students and staff at Auburn North about what Harmony Day means to them. To listen to this broadcast click below:

Hi boys and girls,

Auburn Library is running a School Holiday activity program which includes jewellery workshops, sushi-making and ‘wacky’ science. Bookings open on Monday at 1pm and can be made at the library. Spaces are limited so book early to avoid disappointment.
There is also an author talk  with  Nathan Luff, perfect for students aged 9-12 who enjoy humorous authors such as  Jeff Kinney, Morris Gleitzman and Paul Jennings.
Nathan has written two  hilarious junior novels,
Bad Grammar
and Chicken Stu, the latter  of which is on the Premier’s
Reading Challenge for Years 5-6.

Nathan Luff will be at Auburn Library on Wednesday 10th April @ 4.00pm.
Parents and teachers are welcome.

Book at the Library or on 9735 1250.

Hi Auburn North,
Check out the photos inspired by the Children's Book Council shortlist for 2012. The ANCLIC looks fantastic.  Congratulations boys and girls on creating such wonderful masterpieces for us to enjoy.

Hi Auburn North,

If you missed the Stage 3 Science Expo then take a look at the photos that showcase the amazing talents of our students.
Years 5 and 6 very proudly showed their buddy classes their open -ended science projects  they had been working on in Term 2.
Students worked in groups to complete their projects and have done an amazing job at creating replicas of the Harbour Bridge and Opera House. As you can see from the photos, the attention to detail is fantastic.
Congratulations students and teachers on a fabulous term of learning.

Hi Auburn North,
What fun we had this year for NSS. We celebrated the day by having a Teddy Bear's Picnic and reading with our buddy classes.

National Simultaneous Storytime aims to promote the value of reading and literacy using quality Australian literature. This year's picture book is 'The Very Cranky Bear', by Nick Bland. It has a wonderful message about friendship, kindness and being fair. A bit like ANPS school values!

Hi Auburn North,
Many thanks to Mrs Saleh and the literacy team for hosting the Book Giving Ceremony for Term 2.
Laura, the National Schools' Coordinator from Books in Homes,  a special guest author, Lynda Calder, and a representative from UWS attended the action packed assembly. Students read poetry, received their book bags, received awards for completing the comprehension competition on the front of the brochure and 2M and the NAP students sang a FANTASTIC song inspired from the students of Ocoee Middle School in the US.
You did such a great job that Laura asked if Auburn North  would like to feature on the next BIH catalogue which will be out in Term 4!  Exciting stuff. Well done everyone.

Hi Auburn North,

Thank you Miss Li for encouraging students to enter the competition for Leigh Hobbs to visit our school.
Over 100 stage 2 students had the opportunity to learn to draw Leigh's famous characters such as Mr Chicken, Horrible Harriet and Old Tom.

Have a look at the photos of our very talented artists in action.
You can read more about Leigh Hobbs by visiting the school website.
Check it out.
