Hi everyone,

Stage 3 have been watching the film 'The Little Fathers' by the very famous Syrian actor and producer Doureid Lahham.

Ms Francis has been working with the students on moving between languages and translating between Egyption to other Middle Eastern accents and cultures.

It has been lovely to share the Libary with the Arabic Community Language group.

Post the differences in accents you noticed here, or you can write a summary of the film.

Mrs Clift

P.S.Here are a couple of differences between my accent and the Australian accent!

Chips
France
Dance
Gasp!

Hi everyone I love the movie and it's really funny my favourite character is widowed because he's really funny and cool. Widowed helps children even do everything for the principle. Widowed is smart and kind.
My favourite part is when the school had no school on Friday because widowed and the principle decided to get some new table. The movie is about communication
p.s hope you enjoy my description.

Hi Huma
Thankyou for your comment, it was very good.
It's really great to learn another language, as you said, so you can talk to two people at the same time.

The movie “The Little Dad’s” takes place in Egypt. There are six main characters. They are named Gazelle, Nora, Gaber and Mien they are the kids of the fourth main character. The fifth main character is the lady who rents their room she is from Syria and her name is Emel.
At The beginning of the movie the kid’s mum dies from a brain tumor. She wants the dad to finish University where he is studying to become a lawyer. However, instead of listening to his wife he quits it and becomes a part-time taxi driver and part-time police chief. The kids decide to get jobs and save up so that they can get their dad back in University. They also rent one of their rooms.
They think that their dad likes the Emel. The biggest son Gaber tries to reason with his father over a drink in a resternaut he acts like he is his father even though it’s the other way around. They get jealous. They try a lot of different methods to eavesdrop on them. Near the end they all sing a song together that translates Syrian words to Egyptian words for example fridge is said differently in each accent of the Arabic language but means the same thing.
At the very end they realize that Emel is not trying to steal their father. She turns out to be a very nice person.
It was a very funny film and sad at the same time. I also learnt more then a dozen translations form both Syrian and Egyptian. 

Hi Narjis,
Thank you for sending in your film review of 'The Little Dads'. I really enjoyed reading it. The plot sounds great. So many complications that need resolving!
What a relief to know that Emel really is a nice person after all.

Well done. I know Mrs Francis is very proud of you...and so am I.
