Good morning Stage 2,

Great job answering questions about the Great Barrier Reef. I am learning lots of interesting facts about the reef from the information you have posted in.

Today's post is different.

We will be using an online dictionary to find the definitions of key words.
Level 1
coral, habitat, threat, mammal
Level 2
colony, atoll, marine, carnivore
Level 3
marine, heritage,tourism, diversity

Habitat:
A habitat is about the natural environment.
The habitat was nice and natural.
Threat:
A threat is when someone gives you a punishment.
Pollution is a threat to the Great Barrier Reef.
Mammal:
A mammal is an animal that has babies.

Here are our definitions

Coral-the hard skeleton of tiny sea animals that are also called corals.
Corals are tiny sea animals in the GBR.
Habitat-The natural environment of an animal or plant.
The habitat of a clownfish is the GBR.
Threat-A statement that harm or punishment will follow.
I got a threat from my mum and dad.

Hi everyone,
We feel very clever today and here is our definitions.
1.Coral –the hard skeleton of tiny sea animals that are also called coral.
In the GBR there are tiny sea creatures that are bright coloured which is called coral.
2. Habitat-the natural environment of an animal or plant.
Rabbits’ habitat are burrows.
3. Threat- a statement that someone will harm or punish some person or group.
Why do parents threat children.
4.Mammal-an animal that has hair and feeds its babies with milk from the mother.

In Nemo Bruce the shark chased the clown fish and the Clown fish went into the coral.
Habitat
The natural environment of an animal or plant
The Clownfish habitat is a coral reef.
Threat
A statement that harm or punishment will follow.
My mum gave me a threat.
Mammal
A warm-blooded animal with fur or hair on its skin and a skeleton inside its body.

Coral: The hard skeleton secreted by certain marine polyps of tropical seas, deposited in masses that form reefs or atolls.

Habitat:The natural environment of a plant or animal.
An animal may suffer if it is removed from its natural habitat.

Threat: a declaration of intent to cause harm or difficulty, or to inflict punishment.

Mammal: Any of the vertebrate animals that feed their babies with milk from the female mammary glands and usu.

Colony: A territory governed by a distant country, often settled by citizens of that country.

Atoll: A ring-shaped island or reef that surrounds a lagoon.

Marine: of or concerning the sea; living in or caused by the sea.

Carnivore: A flesh-eating animal, esp. a meat-eating mammal.

Marine:of or concerning the sea; living in or caused by the sea.

Heritage: Something that is inherited from earlier generations; tradition.

Tourism: The act of traveling from place to place, esp. for pleasure.

Diversity: The state or condition of being unlike; dissimilarity.

Colony country ruled by another: a country or area that is ruled by another country

Atoll coral island surrounding lagoon: a ring-shaped coral reef and small island that encloses a lagoon and is surrounded by open sea ( often used in place names )
Bikini Atoll

Marine of sea: relating to, found in, or living in the sea

Carnivore flesh-eating animal: an animal that eats other animals.

Level 3

Heritage legal inheritance: property or land that is or can be passed on to an heir

Tourism travel for pleasure: the activity of traveling for pleasure

Diversity variety: a variety of something such as opinion, color, or style
a city of great cultural diversity

Hi everyone I am going to tell you some meanings of some words!

LEVEL 1

Coral:Coral is a tiny sea animal that live in warm tropical oceans.
Sentence: When I went to the beach I found a coral necklace.

Habitat:An environment for animals and plants.
Sentence:I have my very own habitat.

Threat:When someone is trying to get you in trouble.
Sentence:Pollution is a threat to the Great Barrier Reef.

Mammal:An animal that has or hatches babies from it's body.
Sentence:There are cute mammals at the zoo.

LEVEL 2

Colony:A group of people and animals from the same country, of the same type living closely together.
Sentence:I found families of mice and a colony of bees and a cool, quiet place to rest and think.

Atoll:A round thing that is shaped like a ring.
Sentence:The islands of the Maldives are grouped in ring-shaped coral atolls, each enclosing a relatively shallow lagoon with a flat sandy bottom.

Marine:A ship that can go on the ocean.
Sentence:Once I went in a marine.

Carnivore:An animal that eats another animal's flesh.
Sentence:These herbivores are often eaten by carnivores ( meat-eaters ) after which some carnivores are eaten by other carnivores.

LEVEL 3
Marine:Living in the sea or caused by the sea.
Sentence:Marine's come on the Great Barrier Reef.

Heritage:something that one believes, thinks, or does from another family.
Sentence:When this other family thought of a good idea I cheated and made it my idea first.

Tourism:People who are served from other people.
Sentence:I was a tourism when I was on Jet star.

Diversity:the state or condition of being diverse.
Sentence:We want to reflect the diversity of the country we serve.
